FINANCIAL END OF YEAR ACCOUNTS GETTING CLOSE?

As March 31st rears its ugly head (gee, it was only Christmas a minute ago!), most small businesses need to start looking at their year-end accounting. Here is a handy checklist to help you get started with sorting those accounts...

  • Ensure that you have itemised accounts and receipts, especially for things such as Entertainment (both Customer and Staff)

  • End of year Stocktake?

  • Debtors accounts up to date or any provisional Bad Debts (we hate that word but unfortunately it’s a fact of life that not everyone is as honest as ourselves)

  • If you have staff, all your payroll accounting is up to date (for accruing holiday pay entitlements)

  • Your vehicle Log Book is up to date (if you are running one)

  •  Records of any Assets sold or purchased during the year
